a story about love at first sight.

i don't know when i became obsessed with wallets but when i find one i really like, it usually takes an act of God to pry me away from it, or in this case... an even cuter wallet.

my friend jin had been responsible for all the wallets i owned up until this year. she always managed to find the perfect wallet and i could never find one that even came close to comparsion. with that being the case, i still made it a mission to find one because my 2 1/2 year old wallet had begun to wear. the problem is i have a thing for small two-fold wallets with a change pocket and it's usually hard to find (but apparently, not for jin). i had eventually given up my search until i encountered that beauty above in a small tucked away vintage shop in Boston this past summer. i figured it to be ridiculously expensive but i still asked the shop gal to pull it from the glass case. i couldn't help but run my fingers over the beautiful and intricate weave on the front. i opened it up and loved how it was leather throughout (i hate the cloth-like interior that a lot of wallets have) and when i discovered the cute attached coin pocket on the back? omg.

what really won me over was the handwritten price tag hidden in the coin pocket when i clicked it open - $20. the angels sang. and because i didn't want her to catch on and realize that i was totally robbing her, i said, as calmly as i could without sounding eagar and excited, "I'll take it". not only that, you guys... but, are you ready for this? it was tax-free day in Boston that day. i seriously bought the wallet of my dreams, out the door, for $20. is that a story of fate or what?

so, that is how my wallet and i met. we have been together ever since and i suspect we will be together for as long as it'll have me.

LOL GIRL!!! I know how you feel about the wallet thing. Once I my eyes are set on a certain wallet, I've already made it mine. :) One thing I have learned is to stay away from bright colored leather wallets. -______- water damage is not forgiving on a bright yellow leather wallet.
