there are certain words i always have trouble remembering how to spell and when i was younger, pronounce. for instance, i couldn't get my tongue to differentiate between the words 'cereal' and 'stereo' until i was 9. similarly, i grew up not knowing how to correctly spell 'desert' or 'dessert' without consulting a dictionary first (kinda like how i can't do basic addition and subtraction without using my fingers and toes). lucky for me, z taught me a secret on how to differentiate the two and it's so funny - i literally laughed out loud when he told me, but i've been secretly using it since!
he said, "when i think of dessert, i think of wanting more dessert, that is why 'dessert' has an extra 's' - because you want more of it." isn't this genius? i swear it's the next best thing to the less than "<" / greater than ">" fish mouths i learned in math.
... and this is a lesson on spelling. i hope it helps you because it sure as heck helped me!
xxoo
