a meaningful monday.

as mentioned in a previous post, susan and i decided about 2 weeks ago that we'd go on a wine tasting trip in august. i'm excited that it's actually happening since rarely anything that's suggested in passing becomes a reality. once we checked our calendars and confirmed the dates, i went to making reservations right away. i researched various wine touring companies in the SB area and found Wine Edventures a promising bet. they not only offer the convenience of picking you up and dropping you off at your hotel, but also provide a scenic drive through Santa Ynez Valley. in addition, they take you to 4 wineries, provide a complimentary lunch made to order, and i've read from Yelp reviews that the tour guide educates you in the art of wine making. ah, the anticipation! i'm glad the details have been finalized - i'm anxious to take a break from the routine we call life.

in other exciting news, my lit. professor approached me about joining Phi Theta Kappa, which contrary to what the name suggests - is NOT a sororiety, or fraternity, but an Honors Society. he is an advisor for the organization and once he filled me in with the details, i became more and more interested. the first thing that caught my attention was the scholarships available to members of this particular program. the second thing were the various opportunities to grow individually (which is something i'm striving for right now) and to help others grow as well. my professor is convinced that i'd benefit from participating and again, i'm grateful that he would even think of me as a candidate because in doing so, he recognizes my efforts and sees success. i'm taking it into serious consideration and will be using the summer to make my final decision.

in closing, i'd like to end this Monday post with a quote from Sarah Caldwell:
"Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can - there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did.”
