Seattle was blistering hot when i arrived - something i wasn't expecting at all. i was told that the houses there aren't built with air conditioning since it's always raining and known for its cooler temperatures.
i stayed for 3 nights and 3.5 days. the first 2 nights i stayed with sarah and her husband. it wasn't at all awkward like i had half-expected it to be. although i have to admit that there were a few moments when i caught her analyzing me - trying to catch our similarities and differences. she asked a lot of questions about our mom and i asked a lot of questions about her and her family - most of the trip was spent just getting to know one another.
she reminds me so much of our mother, which caught me off guard. i grew up with our mom for most of my life and we're complete polar opposites - unlike sarah, who never even met our mom, and is exactly like her. even sarah couldn't help but notice the similarities when i told her stories about her, "omg, that's exactly what i did! i can't believe i'm just like her!". i guess i did my share of analyzing too - being a child development major does that to you. i pried about her childhood and her environment, her likes and dislikes. sometimes it felt like a dream, sitting with her and listening to her story.. and at the end, a friendship sprouted. and really, that's more than i could have asked for.
