spring came with rain.

the rain has made its way back to us; emi didn't even go potty last night. we tried waiting until the rain died down but it never did, so emi just stood out there getting drenched until z got the point. i hear the rain is staying with us for the rest of the week, spring is definitely making its arrival known and i guess this means i shouldn't pack away my winter/fall wardrobe just yet.

the weekend was pretty uneventful. we made it a point to avoid the rain and crazy drivers by enjoying the gloom behind closed doors. we snuck in a cat nap saturday afternoon and cuddled in most of sunday. we watched movies, ate good food, drank a few margaritas, and stayed tucked under warm blankets. i know emi is especially happy when we stay in like that. i caught up on some school work but i'm still mentally unprepared to go back to school this week. i still can't believe i'm already mid-way through the semester, i'm usually under a lot of pressure and freaking out over midterms by this time, but i'm sure it's lurking around the corner somewhere, just waiting to knock me off my feet. what's that saying again? hope for the best, but expect the worse? yeah.

hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

getting over a lot more than this flu.

remember that flu i was fighting last week? well, it has passed on to z, which meant that the weekend mostly consisted of me recovering from mine and z dealing with his. even so, there's something endearing about being under soft blankets and blowing our noses together. that's not to say that we had a bad weekend because somewhere between all coughing up mucus and pumping ourselves with medicine, we managed to take a drive down the coast on saturday and catch a movie yesterday.

it took my manager until 3pm on Friday to finally announce that our office will be closed today. i couldn't have asked for a better day off - the weather has been gorgeous the past few days. we're talking mid 70's to low 80's! with plans for big bear next month, i have to admit i was a little sour about the warming temperatures but i stopped to remind myself of my new years resolution. i can't control the weather, so enjoy it... and that i did. i took emi out to the park for a good game of fetch and there's no denying that she is grateful for the sun's visit.

today i am committing some time to school work. the first week back wasn't too bad, although i can already tell you that my stats class is going to be the death of me. even the word 'statistics' makes me want to yawn. it's going to take some time getting back into the groove of weekend study sessions and writing papers, but i'm relieved to know that it's going to be a much easier semester than last. much easier.

i hope you all enjoyed a great weekend. with southern california skies looking the way it has in the pictures above - how could you not? :)

monday blues tenfold.

we were told today that our manager's dad passed at midnight on saturday. when i woke up saturday, the sky was clear but by mid-afternoon, the clouds came rolling in and the air felt different. i immediately thought about my boss's dad and something told me he would be leaving that day. i can't explain how i knew, only that i felt the world change at the precise moment.

i stopped by her house on saturday to drop off an orchid with my condolences. no one answered the door so i said a quick prayer in my head and left the orchid on her front porch.

may he rest in peace and may he shine down happiness on my boss and her family so that they can feel joy again.

aches, pains, and returning home.

i don't know if it has to do with the dancing i did in heels on friday night or the jogging i decided to do with emi yesterday morning but my body is aching like nobody's business today. the achy pains plus a lack of a night's sleep made for a dazed and sleepy miss tina today. i found myself dozing off around 4pm, despite a cup of black coffee. it doesn't help that mondays are usually my longest days - someone remind me why i thought taking a class on monday night was such a great idea?

the great news is that z comes home tomorrow. do you hear that, emi? papa's coming home! you guys have no idea how much he is needed in my life. i've felt so totally drained and overwhelmed this past week with him gone and even though i'll still have a bazillion things going when he's here, having him around instills a sense of calm in me. his presence is the voice in the back of my head that whispers everything will be okay. he is the energy that will give emi the playtime she deserves and needs. he is the extra help around the apartment, the support that holds things together, the arms i fall into after an impossible day. so, yes... very, very relieved and overjoyed for his return. lots of affection is waiting for him when he gets back.

hope you all had a more pleasant monday and hope that pleasantness continues throughout the week. the bed is screaming for me and i think i ought to oblige. good night, xxoo

another monday, another week, another day for us to greet - good morning all.

z returned home early yesterday evening and us girls welcomed him back with kisses and hugs. emi even took a nice little nap with him while i finished up studying for today's midterm.

woke up with ease this morning to dense fog. i almost made the decision to skip the morning walk but i'm glad we didn't. the fog was actually welcoming and it was nice to start the day with just me, emi, and the recently repaved black tops.
